2 Months…and Mama’s Hungry

We’ve made it to the two month mark and Maya is FINALLY gaining weight normally…phew! All the pain of breastfeeding actually has a tangible reward …. Now we don’t have to go back to the ped for 2 months.  This time around she got 5 shots and an oral vaccine.  Ev and I debated only for about 5 min. as to whether we would go with the AAP’s vaccination schedule or with Dr. Bob’s alternative version….we ended up going with the AAP’s since we wanted to get more done in one shot…and protect her earlier on from those ghastly diseases that would be deadly should she get them so young.  She did not like them, but she did get over the shots quickly. I bet it will be harder to console her when she’s older.

Maya likes: her bath (for reals now!), smiling big, cooing, her swing, her aquarium playyard and the music it plays, trying to roll from back to tummy, looking around when she is outside, being a good baby, giving her parents a glimpse of sleeping through the night and then yanking it out from under them, looking super cute, to poop in her bath, her mommy’s funny songs she sings to her on the changing pad (“You’re just a poop machine, and you won’t poop for nobody but me…ooooh ooh  ooh yeaaahh”)

Maya dislikes: shots, her long nails when they cut her chin, being taken out of her bath

Maya can (update!): hold her head up for longer periods, follow objects with her eyes, bat at the things above her in the aquarium playyard, scoot backwards on her tummy (mostly out of frustration as opposed to intentional movement)

Mommy likes: Maya’s giant smiles, her ability to feed her baby, giving baby a bath, being able to shower most days, Maggy Maid (yes we hired them again, and will …AGAIN), being able to go back on Weight Watchers, feeling more confident taking Maya out on her own, that she got all of the announcements out

Mommy dislikes: lack of sleep, no more post-partum bleeding!, lack of sleep,  cleaning poop out of the bath, lack of sleep, the time it is taking me to write thank yous…STILL (though most are done now), lack of sleep, the amount of time in a day (I need about 24 more hours, 12 of which would be sleep, the other 12 would involve me tidying up the house…well maybe an hour for a pedicure or massage paid for by my own personal pot of gold), the amount of laundry that occurs with a newborn and the placement of the laundry in this building (3 flights of stairs..SUCKS), the sad, sad little shudder Maya does when she is finished crying really hard and is still upset (kills me), not getting a chance to cut Maya’s nails therefore causing her to cut herself, bleed, scream hysterically …ugh

So …Weight Watchers. Why is it that we have to be hungry to lose weight? Can’t we just get rid of that feeling altogether? I mean thank God I’m breastfeeding otherwise I would not nearly be able to eat as much…of course I probably wouldn’t be as hungry either. Other than the hunger – since I have done WW so many damn times, it has been rather easy to get back into it. I know it will work if I work it…so let’s see how it goes.
