The Sound of Silence

Peaceful Sunday mornings remind me that one of the things I most like to hear is…absolutely nothing at all. The quiet is incredibly restorative, especially when I hear nothing but chatter all day long during the week. If all you hear is noise during the week (and even if that’s what you prefer), try to work in some quiet weekly, if not daily, even if it’s only for 5 minutes.

And because of the way my mind works (often in song lyrics), you get another gem for today.

Simon and Garfunkel from 40 years ago…

You might be interested in this article: “This is your brain on silence” — ” Freedom from noise and goal-directed tasks, it appears, unites the quiet without and within, allowing our conscious workspace to do its thing, to weave ourselves into the world, to discover where we fit in. That’s the power of silence.” The Simon and Garfunkel song is mentioned. http://m.nautil.us/issue/16/nothingness/this-is-your-brain-on-silence
