How YOU Doin’? – If We Were Having Coffee 09.20.2015

Good Sunday to you my friend, sit down a spell and please, have some of the sweet things in my house I can no longer eat, along with your coffee. There is chocolate for the taking, brownie crisps Would you like some sugar? Have two lumps for me.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that the Man and I have taken to watching old Friends episodes while eating our meals.  I’d tell you I’m surprised at how well it holds up after 20 years and that it’s been making me laugh…a lot!

How You Doin'?

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I met with the nutritionist this week and she told me that according to my glucose test numbers, my diabetes should be controlled by diet. I would say I was super excited about that, but am frustrated thus far because my post-meal numbers have been high so far.  My fasting number was great, so I’m happy with that. It seems like this will be a lot of trial and error at first. So far, mostly error, even without any thing close to dessert or large portions of carbohydrates! We shall see.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that the summer colds that have been floating around school and the Man’s work have finally taken up residence in my sinuses. I only worked for a few hours on Friday and then came home and planted my tush on the couch to rest.  Being sick and pregnant is unpleasant because then you have several things keeping you up at night and preventing you from breathing properly at any time.  Hopefully this will be the last of the colds for the duration…

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you I went to my first PTA meeting this week. The Man accompanied me and we got to give our input into the direction we want the little monkey’s school to go for the next five years, as they are renewing their charter.  I’d tell you that I’d really rather I was home because I was already feeling yucky, but that I’m glad I got to take part.  I always tell friends of mine, and I’ll tell you too – the most important thing when it comes to your child’s education, is not the school, the teacher or the quality of the curriculum — though all of those things are extremely important. The most important thing though is parental involvement. It is so important to keep in touch with your child’s teacher, and with your child.  Checking in with both on a regular basis (daily for the child, by checking homework and periodically with the teacher) can go a long way to ensure school success.

Do you want another cup? There’s more in the pot…

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that this tropical heat we’ve been having is making me think I should move to Florida, because at least then, it would be cheaper to live. But then I’d tell you I was just joking…because I won’t ever move there, but I’m not joking about the weather.

In jest, I’d offer you an empty aquarium with your second cup of coffee.  And then, I’d tell you that poor Bubble took his last breath upside down in the tank, much like his friend Diamond. We had hopes that he was going to survive, but unfortunately, he didn’t and died right in front of our eyes. I cried my eyes out. The little monkey comforted me and the Man took care of what needed to be taken care of.

I’d tell you I did a little work on my blog and I now have a page dedicated to Rodan + Fields along the top. That way people can find the information they want quickly and easily.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you it’s time for me to take a walk or do something active instead of sitting on my tush, and I’d invite you to join me if you’d like. And then I’d bid you good day… thank you for spending the time with me, and tell you to have a great week.

  1. I didn’t know you do the Rodan & Fields thing. I have a childhood friend from Tucson that has been involved with them for years and uses their products. She’s my age but still looks to be in her early thirties.

I’m with you on the Florida move although I would like to visit there someday.

    • Yeah! I just started with R + F and so far, so great! I have visited Florida, a few times. Been to the south (Miami, South Beach, Fort Lauderdale) and the north (ish) to Orlando and Disney World…well Orlando is DisneyWorld pretty much. It’s cool to visit….but that’s it lol. I do have several family members who live there though…mostly for the very low cost of living. Still not worth it to me.

  2. I’m a big time Friends fan. I watch it every night on Nick. I have to agree with you- it has stood up against the test of time and that’s not easy to do.

Parent involvement in a child’s education is SO vital! I was always actively involved in my kids’ educations and that led me to the school board position.

      • It definitely takes commitment! I wouldn’t have done it when my kids were younger because I wanted to be with them. It was only as they approached middle school and high school and I felt like they didn’t need me around so much that it worked out. 🙂

  3. Yes, Friends is still funny after all these years. Sorry about your fish and hope your cold clears up. I’m visiting from the Weekend Blog Share, and am drinking a coffee at the moment, as it happens! Milky, no sugar, but I would eat all your chocolate if you let me, I’m feeling quite chocolate-deprived right now!

  4. It’s now well and truly Monday here but I’m trying to get through as many coffees as I can and I’m going to be water-logged and very buzzy after all of that. Sorry to hear about the fish. I’m not good with pet deaths either. I’m off top have some rice pudding for dessert and a decaf tea. xx Rowena
