Mindful and Meditative Mondays #18 – Coping Skills

There have been several instances in the last few weeks where various people in my life have given up on a set goal or dream or even worse, decided not to even entertain trying to see what might happen to dream at all because of past experiences or because they can’t handle the thought of failing. I’ve seen people get stuck in a pattern – one where they can’t see a way out of a hole, they can’t see that a simple change in their own actions might change their lives in a positive way – for good!

I’ve been thinking about this a lot and I’ve come to a conclusion – the biggest reason that people give up, have trouble setting goals, or meeting them is a lack of coping skills.  Not knowing how to cope with having to work hard. Not knowing how to cope with a change in routine. Not knowing how to prioritize or having too much on their plate.

So for me this week, I want to be mindful about helping people with this issue – and about helping myself with this when it arises with me because you know how it goes…what you see in others is what exists in yourself…good and bad.
