Not a word for today, but a feeling…

So sometimes, it’s a Wednesday and I want to write, but no words come to me. Well, words, come but not actual “words of the day”…

Instead tonight, I wanted to write about a feeling I had…I was playing around in my iTunes looking for some Andrea Bocelli music as I’m seeing him this coming weekend at the Hollywood Bowl. I always do this – if I’m going to see a concert, I hunt around my collection for whatever I have of whatever band/singer I am going to see and I put them on heavy rotation.  I realized at this point that I didn’t actually have any Bocelli (!!) (I used to, but it was stolen out of my car many moons ago — bastard thieves), so I bought a few tracks with the plethora of iTunes gift certificates burning a hole in my iTunes account . One in particular, “Vivo per lei” is a the perfect expression of how powerful music can make you (or in this case, me) feel…one of the verses goes like this:

Vivo per lei perché mi fa

Vibrare forte l’anima

In case you’re unfamiliar with the beautiful Italian language, the translation is “I live for her because she makes my soul stir strongly,” and the “her” in this case is actually referring to music.  You’d think it was about a woman, but it isn’t…(and yes, it does sound much better in Italian).

When I put on that song, and close my eyes, and listen to Bocelli and Giorgia sing the hell out of it, my mouth curves into a smile, my breathing deepens, and yes, my soul stirs.  I love that feeling…just wanted to share 🙂

Happy (nearly done) Wednesday to you all!

  1. 🙂 I often think of an old song when I listen to my iPod… “Music was my first love, and it will be my last… music of the future and music of the past… to live without my music would be impossible to do… for in this world of troubles, my music pulls me through…”
